2015 Renewable Gas Overview

Pau, to April 29, 2016

On the way to 10% renewable gas by 2030

In 2015, renewable gas became a reality, with 17 injection sites. Today, the Renewable Energy Union (Syndicat des énergies revouvelables, or SER) and gas network managers - GRDF, GRTgas, SPEGNN, and TIGF - published the first Renewable Gas Overview.

This is a report on a growth industry whose initial profits confirm its considerable development potential. Beyond the information it contains, this document is a product of the collective commitment of all involved to promote renewable gas and, more specifically, biomethane.

Developing the methanisation industry, and especially renewable gas injection facilities, is a major part of the Energy Transition for Green Growth Law (Loi relative à la Transition Énergétique pour la Croissance Verte, or LTECV), passed on 18 August 2015. Basically, this law sets a 10% goal for renewable gas as a share of end consumption by 2030. Adapting and managing existing natural gas network infrastructure are essential tasks.
