Pau, to April 01, 2016
During AFG (Association Française du Gaz) Conference « Gas market assessment and prospects » on March 24th, a round-table conference entitled « La Trading Region South (TRS) : towards further market integration » gathered Olivier Aubert (Directeur de l’Offre by GRTgaz,), Dominique Jamme (Directeur des réseaux by CRE) et Jean-Loup Minebois (Directeur Développement et Commerce by TIGF). Operators and regulor got to point out the TRS success story and to go further in the national market integration towards 2018 by extending the Trading Region model to the merger of GRTgaz North and South zones.
On 1st of April 2015, a common market area, made up of the GRTgaz South and TIGF areas, is set up under the name Trading Region South (TRS).
This marketplace integration model, validated by the French Energy Regulator (CRE), is applied for the first time in Europe.
The main aim of TRS is to simplify client access to the wholesale gas market in southern France. Shippers no longer have to subscribe capacities to the interconnection of the two networks. Shipper imbalances are shared between the two GRTgaz South and TIGF balancing zones, which continue to exist.
